Re: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
Yep, but then do you go for 26 as you think you've over counted in the heat of the moment, or 28 becuase you think you've undercounted!? You don't want to sit there counting again becuase you'd feel to stupid so you might guess 28.

Re: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
That guy was sitting there for half an hour, but not because he had to think that much about the question. Host kept talking to them, so people have to stick around for the conclusion and don't turn off after 5 minutes.
And to be fair: it's probably more difficult to answer questions when you're sitting in the studio under these bright lights

Re: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
Yeah, they always drag it out. Nowadays it's more of a talk show than a quiz show. Kinda.

Re: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
I'm surprised they get away with it! It'd frustrate me too much to watch it if you had to wait half an hour to get past just one question.

Re: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
Yeah, here they'd edit out the dead air and just show one or two minutes of thinking/chatting to show the more interesting of the chat and the most intense of the panicking, delete as appropriate. I'm reminded by those brief clips how small the Irish studio was. The lack of budget compared to the UK version really shows.

Re: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
People here love it though. They like the host and the chatter.
They also introduce the 5 hopefuls with a fun fact. The "He spilled his coffee and saw the face of his grandmother" kind of fun fact.

Re: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
Will you use the classic rules or will there be some special rules?

Re: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
Instead of 100 audience members voting, player can choose one volunteer to help him in Ask the Audience.
I'm not sure if Phone-a-Friend has changed, there's now 3 prechosen options to choose who to ask; previously the exact system was unknown, I can't tell if it was the same or if you had to choose one person before game or had available as many as you wanted to name.
The amounts of money may have changed, with first dozen being lower than in original format. But it was first changed back in 2002 because Finland joined Euro; they wanted to keep the prize in million, but sums would've effectively multiplied by 6 so they dropped most of them - nobody has ever won million here anyway, despite the show was around for years.
There are no changes or special rules beyond those.
