emoticon All those videos are great.
The messing around in the German version is what the UK version should have been like all along. Don't know if it's evolved into something more fun, but I doubt it (I've read they now use sob-stories. MY FAVOURITE!).

And since when was "(Stone)henge" pronounced "edge"? emoticon

I've found Millionaire with John Henson emoticon:

emoticon At the start! I love how quick it is though. The clock improves it so much. No "Ummmmmmmm, I think it's D. No, is it C? Not it's definitely D. Or it could be A? Not it's C! No, D! D! D is my final... NO WAIT. Is it B? Yeah, it's... No, no. C. No D. I'm going with D" dragged out over 5 minutes each question.
What the hell at the "Celebrity question" though ? emoticon

No, it shouldn't! That's like all other game shows, then. Yawn. It's not supposed to be fun, it's supposed to be tense. It's better when it's tense and scary. That's what made it popular in the first place. People unsure like that was better becuase you never knew what was going to happen. That's more entertaining for me. None of this 'messing around'. That's just annoying, not funny. The clock ruins it all by taking away that "what am I gonna do?!" drama, since very few get to the 'level 3' questions where that is still allowed these days.

How is this boring, exactly, Dan? Sorry, but when I disagree with someone, I REALLY disagree with them. emoticon As for sob stories, that's naughty, since they didn't need them before, but at least they don't have one for EVERY SINGLE contestant, like Deal or No Deal does.

Funny moments should happen by accident, or once in a while, not all the time. To be fair though, Codex that's kind of what you were saying all along, wasn't it?

There, I've said it. Oh, and Phone a Friend is the one that's useless, Takeshi. If your friend doesn't know it, you're stuffed.

But that's why I still like Deal or No Deal. I can hate the contestants, sob stories making me hate them more, then laugh lots when they get 10p and everyone cries. I love it.

Well, as my own personal preference, I like fun and occasional messing around. Tense = boring. For me. The more tension in TV shows the more they make me switch off. Apart from Deal or No Deal, when I'm waiting for them to lose. You don't know the contestants in Millionaire, so it doesn't bother me whether they win or lose.

Yep, that's the case in the German version. He does his jokes as in the WHO WHAT WHEN.. video, when contestants are not able to answer the questions. It doesn't happen all the time, so it's good. Sometimes our host also makes a few jokes during their talks, but these are shorter.

The US version was always quite straight. Look at the student. They didn't had a clock there, but it was "Question - Answer - Final Answer - Bäm - wrong - bye".

I think it's the job of the host to step in, when answering takes to long. Günther Jauch does that. He makes this situations interesting to watch, sometimes by joking, sometimes by just talking and making his contestants doing something. Yesterday's episode is good example.. the woman wasn't sure if her answer was right, so he told her to use the 50:50 lifeline and she did that.

And thanks for the John Henson episode emoticon

A few things, Meredith is so much better than friggin Regis on the american one. Why do people like Regis?!

Soz Rsmcc, a few years ago, I would have agreed with you, but millionaire was deffo stale and whereas I don't like the clock in the american one, the increasing time and removal of it towards the end has made our version loads better as now it's faster to get to the actual tense moments, less "OMG WHAT IF THEY LOSE A WHOLE 2000 POUNDS BUT STILL GET 1000" lol dont care. Big money is where it was awesome and now we get more time there.

Hate the new money tree. I love 32,000 64,000 etc.

America have ruined the format also with that mixed up questions crap.

and finally, "OUT OF ALL PLACES?!"

Re: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire

We just got a new millionaire on Millionaire emoticon He was a great contestant. He played the ordinary version with 3 lifelines and he had still the Phone-A-Friend for his last question. Günther Jauch asked him if he knew John Carpenter and told his story. (btw. he loves to tell this story, he just told it a few weeks ago). The contestant didn't know him, but did exactly the same thing afterwards. At first he asked his friend if Sandra is still at the shop and then asked his friend if he also thinks that the first German stamp was called "Black One" (the actual English name was "One Black Kreutzer", but Black One is the literal translation). It was a rather easy question, because the options were "Black one", "Red Two", "Yellow Three" and "Blue Four".. the first stamp is one, obviously. And I heared this name a few months ago, so I would have took this risk and could have been a millionaire, too emoticon

He really deserved the million, was a great person and he knew really much. He was also able to answer the 500000 Euro question without any help, because he asked this question himself (he has coffee bar and they do a table quiz every now and then. That's also the reason why he could answer the Million Euro question.)

He also said that he will raise his employee's salaries and invited the whole audience to his coffee bar for helping him earlier. That was really great emoticon

Well done to him!
When was the last time there was a winner on the show? I wonder if they put in an easier question on purpose?

The last time we had winner was nearly 4 years ago (not counting the 2 celebrities 2 years ago).

It's possible that they made them easier on purpose. I think all questions are getting a bit easier. A few years ago I was never sure if can answer the first 10 questions without any help, but nowadays I'm able to answer them without any help.
