Re: Splatalot
You can see the new obstacles at splatalot.ytv.com (If you can get it to load, but at least you get to shoot at people while you wait!)

Re: Splatalot
Slowest loading website ever or what?
The first round looks exactly the same, apart from the catapult? The final round seems much, much better than the original.
Looks like there are actually only six defenders this time, so they did cut down on them? Good decision in doing that.

Re: Splatalot
They only ever had six per show - never really understood why they rotated them.
Not a lot to say - I think Round 2 will get very boring very quick (and looks to be the same weekly). Also from the way it is set up is the Splatalot Zone now going to be individual rather than a race?

Re: Splatalot
No, the final round is still a race, but it's still a lot more fair than the lanes from last season.

Re: Splatalot
So the celebrity episode aired a couple of months ago yet the only video I can find is someone filming their TV (and from a distance too!). Don't think this will be shown here at least as it's two shows competing that mean nothing to UK kids, and hosted live by the Canadian hosts on set.
The only changes in the first round look to be the Catapult to start with and a solid but pivoted bridge replacing the rope bridge.
The second round is Ditch the Dungeon - basically climbing those slippery stairs, while Capture the Crown has all new obstacles - far more than previously too.
They also have a sideline host for the celeb special - and presumably only for the celeb special.

Re: Splatalot
Yeah, it's only for the "celeb" special.
They seem to be doing a bunch of other specials this season now, there's been a "Boys vs. Girls" and a "Parents and Kids" special. I'm not sure about anything else, other than the fact that the "Scary-Go-Round" (REAL original) had a wrecking ball swinging across the middle in one episode.

Re: Splatalot
Who'd have thought they'd prove to be even lazier than Wipeout are these days!? Leaving the first round pretty much as it was is really poor.

Re: Splatalot
Would you rather they kept either of the other two rounds the same?
Shame they've lost most of the good defenders, but I do like the new final round. Those T-shaped platforms near the start of the course are actually quite a good obstacle.

Re: Splatalot
The other two rounds are an improvement on the original ones. I just don't get why they didn't change the first round too.
All the defenders seem okay now. No really cringeworthy ones as there was in the first series.

Re: Splatalot
Now that Australia's finally almost finished the second season... eh. I liked the obstacles more this season than last, but I'm not a fan of only having the six defenders. Especially with there being less variation in the obstacles this time (aside from the variety of items used on the staircase, there was only the wrecking ball addition in the final round and using the old barrels and spiked balls at the start of the first round in some episodes), I think it ultimately was the wrong decision. Plus I'm tired of Kookaburra's schtick (and mispronunciation of the word 'kookaburra'). But on the other hand, Thorne really seemed to be enjoying himself a lot more this time around.
