I agree with you, WipeoutFan. The problem is that not only revived shows feature celebrities, even most new shows just have celebrities as contestants. One celebrity special per season should be really enough.

I agree too, but if it's the only way we could get a new series then I'd gladly watch it!

Re: If Fort Boyard Got Brought Back In The UK

Funny that you say that, as the current French series will feature normal non-celeb players this year for the first time since about 1996. Actually, they are really changing the format this year. Which is fair game as it was 2006 the last time the French series was properly changed.

Anyway, UK one. As it'd be in an hour slot, keeping the original formula of one large game clock is pretty much a must. 40 minutes, 2 key riddles, 6 key games, meaning 8 chances to get 4 keys. Same as the C5 series, leaving time for about 4 adventures and a clue riddle. Bring back the swim for losing the riddle.

Possibly make it like the French one and make the door open to different heights depending on number of clues got (3, 4 and 5 for quarter, half and fully open - actually, the Greek ones do this in a 1 hour slot. If a team does worse than 3, extra keys are provided at a price of 0'15 treasure room time per key). Set treasure room time to 3'00, make them open canisters at the treasure room.

Make the music like the old version (a mix of French tracks with original content - because I loved the UK soundtrack). And make all the graphics like the timers the AWESOME 2009 French ones.

As a final request, I would like to be in the watchtower please. I could work for free.

Today the new season was officially confirmed by kabel eins. They will use a new concept. In the new episodes two teams with three members each will compete against each other. I guess it will be similar to the Danish version.

And as if by magic, a slightly spoilerific promo vid for the French series.

I can't believe they've still got so many old games there! That revolving door unscrew the key cover thingy game, the rolling cylinders one, the boxes of goo on the roof one, the sword one, the upside-down bike one. Surely all these must be well over 10 years old!? emoticon

As you can see, I know all the proper names emoticon

I remember this games, too. I don't know how old they are, but we had them in the ProSieben version in 2000. They played also that bungee game back then.

OK, I'm showing off now.

Anyway, if you want the entire list of every game since 1990, ]here's all the key games and here's all the clue games.[/url] Quite a few of them have been going since the original in 1990 (all being key games, as the clue part was introduced in the second year, and the first year was a bit like The Crystal Maze with just keys.)

I'm amazed they've lasted that long! Surely people in France have got bored of watching the same games for 20 years? Looking on those pages, some games only lasted for 1 year. They must have been really bad, or too hard/easy then!

Some of these games were around when the Channel 5 series were made, but were never used though. Strange.

Looking at these is making me REALLY want a new series! I didn't really like the Challenge version because the Boyard was pretty rubbish. Especially after Leslie Grantham.

The majority of those that only lasted one year (particularly the later years) were dropped because they were too easy. The majority of the 100%-win games are more towards the later years (Marches en tubes is basically an easy version of that game off The Crystal Maze). However, games like Couture and Tableaux were too difficult (especially the latter, as with that game, you couldn't escape without the key, which led to a 100% lock in rate).

I reckon the reason that it's lasted so long is that they've given it format changes practically every year. The FB of 1990 is a LOT different from even the FB of a year as early as 1995.

As for the 2003 series, I liked the fact that they used the French music and graphics, and they also had a load of new games from the year before (and they used all the games). But yeah, all the hosts but Tom Baker in the watchtower were basically crap.
