Re: Campaign: Takeshi 2012

Oh I know that ratings aren't going to be massive anymore, but that's why it would be interesting to see. There were more people talking about it online than ever at the weekend, so did that mean bigger ratings than usual?

I think Takeshi must have got some more viewers during the weekend marathon. Probably just not as much as other shows on Challenge like Classic Millionaire regularly get.

I do hope that Challenge are aware of the interest from the people who did watch the weekend marathon.

How hard is it to get into the trending topic list in the UK? Because in Germany it isn't that hard anymore, so trending on twitter doesn't necessaryly mean that you get high ratings here in Germany. But trending worlwide should still result in good ratings..

I've no idea how easy it is to get a trending topic, I don't know that much about Twitter, but people always seem to get excited when it happens so it must be quite an achievement. Especially for it to go worldwide!

We still don't know if Challenge saw it though. Their Twitter poster is off for another week yet.

Re: Campaign: Takeshi 2012

There are articles about it on loads of Japanese sites today! No idea why the news has taken a week to get there though emoticon

I posted it on Challenge's Facebook page as there seems to be someone checking that this week. No reply yet.

Re: Campaign: Takeshi 2012

I've translated that article the best I can:

Quote:

"Fuuun Takeshi Jou's Worldwide Tweet Phenomenon

Popular TBS TV show 'Fuuun Takeshi Jou' (English name: Takeshi's Castle) became a hot topic on 3rd June as it was ranked a top worldwide 'Trend Word' on Twitter.

It was a sudden phenomenon, and moreover it is very unusual for Japanese content to enter the worldwide trend rankings. What on earth happened?... In England, it was the day of a special ceremony to celebrate 60 years since the coronation of Queen Elizabeth. Many English TV stations broadcast special programmes to commemorate this historic event.

One of which, the channel that airs the English version of 'Takeshi's Castle' (Challenge TV), decided to broadcast a 'Takeshi's Castle' marathon over this weekend. This sparked a fire of tweets in the UK, which then spread across the world in the blink of an eye. Temporary TLs ('Timelines') were suddenly flooded with tweets all over the world, too many to follow. About 100 tweets were sent per hour, totalling around 1000; 90% of which were positive comments.

'Takeshi's Castle' has been broadcast in 159 countries and regions around the world, many of which are still broadcasting it today.

For it to have so suddenly entered as a worldwide trend demonstrates the popularity of 'Takeshi's Castle' around the world. It was a symbolic event.

Challenge have seen my post about this now. At last! They've not seen the stuff about trending before now then.

Re: Campaign: Takeshi 2012

It's good that Challenge are now aware of the huge response that Takeshi got on the weekend marathon. Quite incredible that it's all over the Japanese news websites! emoticon

Challenge probably now thinks it definitely is worth making a new series. The only thing is that we still don't know if they've actually made any progress yet.

I think they've probably been in talks with TBS about the idea of the new series for quite some time. They would have to negotiate some sort of a deal. I still hope they do team up to make the new episodes because there isn't any reasons why they shouldn't.
