The big balls would be better if they WERE microphones.

Actually I have no specific obstacles (maybe I create some at the weekend), but a kids special could be themed "when cartoons get evil".

I reckon they'll probably do a kids episode. If not this series, then the next one. Unfortunately it'd be full of annoying little big-headed brats though emoticon
I remember the Fear Factor 'family' episodes *shudder*.

That's a good idea though. I'll try and think of some ideas for it too.

Re: Suggestions: Wipeout Specials

Watching Wimbledon today and it had to be done really - though not as easy as I thought to think of a tennis related course.

WIMBLEDON WIPEOUT

THE QUALIFIER
Ball Buoys - ball shaped buoys floating in the pool
Ball Wall - instead of the Sucker Punch imagine rather than boxing gloves, tennis balls were fired through it as contestants cross a narrow beam
Big Balls - decorated tennis ball style
Rolling Racket - imagine the rolling log shaped like a racket, so they start crossing the log and then have to cross a net (the racket strings) and reach the other side

STRAWBERRIES AND SWEEPER
The Sweeper is covered in cream and has a large strawberry hanging above it

DIZZY DUMMY
Tippy Tennis Court - the Tippy Tables, with a net in the middle

Now, I'm struggling with the second so was looking for a pun-based obstacle from a famous player. So we've got:

Mac and Row - they jump into a bowl of macarroni cheese and out the other side and then have to row to the finish line. (Definitely a case of think of the name, then the obstacle!)

WIPEOUT ZONE
I think the second version is easiest to adapt, so I'm going for that:
Aqua Launch - with ball explosion
Raging Rapids - with a torrent of balls, rather than the tidal wave
Crazy Sweeper - tennis balls on one end, a big W on the other
Tennis Turntables - each with a net in the middle they must climb over

Mac and Row!? emoticon

Another good episode there. Let's hope that maybe Wipeout checks back here again sometime, and sees these topics.

Mac And Row. Nice.

Wipeout: Halloween (I don't care if someone else already did it!)

QUALIFIER
Pumpkin Pedestals - Several pedestals are above the water in a zigzag pattern. On top of the pedestals are pumpkin-shaped balls (they're not supported).
Big Balls - shaped like candies
Grave Hurtles - shaped like graves
Trick Or Treat - The contestant rides a zip line - while candy-shaped balls are fired at them - to a door, which they jump through and onto a platform. From there it's another jump to the finish platform.

ROUND 2
Jack-O-Lantern Sweeper - The Sweeper is normal. No gyrating. There are, however, two large jack-o-lanterns on the Sweeper. The aim is to jump between them. They can be knocked over, but it's risky to try to do so.

ROUND 3
Dizzy Dummy
*Broomstick Pole Vault - Pole Vault where the poles are shaped like broomsticks.
*Witch Hat Hop - spinning witches' hats are placed the water in a hopscotch pattern.

WIPEOUT ZONE
Aqua Launch - The inner tube is shaped like a candy wrapper.
Raging Rapids - The tidal wave is made of pumpkin juice.
Crazy Sweeper - The arms are made of witches' hats and cat's heads.
Jack-O-Lantern Turntables - A large Jack-O-Lantern is on each turntables. Contestants are free to grab onto the faces on the pumpkins.

World Series Wipeout

QUALIFIER
Swinging Bat Run - Contestants walk a beam while several padded baseball bats swing across it in different directions.

Big Balls - Shaped like baseballs.

Out Of The Park - A series of grassy platforms. The platforms appear to be one long platform, but parts of it will catapult the contestant into the water every few seconds.

Home Run - A line of baseball bats is hung above the water. Sort of like sideways monkey bars. Contestants must make their way to the finish platform.

SWEEPER
Baseball Sweeper - There are two baseballs hanging above the sweeper which the contestants must jump between.

DIZZY DUMMY
*Race To Second Base - Floating exercise balls designed to look like baseballs are floating in the water. There are three bases - solid platforms - in the water. The objective is to start at a giant home plate, run across the balls to the first or third, and run across more balls to second base.
*Gyrating Bats - A padded bat-shaped Sweeper arm with ropes and holes on it spins around. Contestants grab on to it and land on a platform, where they face another Gyrating Bat which takes them to a platform where the final platform waits.

WIPEOUT ZONE
Foul Ball - Contestants sit on a ledge on a baseball-shaped sled. Below the ledge is a water slide. A Motivator-like bat pushes the sled onto the water slide.

Dugout Dash - Contestants enter a cage with a balance beam in it (and a very tall ceiling and no floor), and when they do, a giant baseball enters the cage. Contestants have to leave the cage out the other side, climb a rope, and make their way on top of the cage...and not be knocked over by the baseball.

Ball Launch - Contestants must walk across a beam while being pummeled with baseballs.

Baseball Run - A line of slippery baseballs mixed with four bat-shaped pendulums.

Wipeout Zone
The whole Zone is covered in snow, and more snow falls while the contestants take on the course.
1) Sledge Launch - The Aqua Launch ramp is covered in snow and then contestants have to slide down it on a sledge.
2) Snowball Run - Same as the Barrel Run but gaint snowballs instead of barrels. This time the ramp is the hilly one from Raging Rapids to make climbing harder.
3) Crazy Sweeper - Same as usual but just with giant presents and snow balls on the arms.
4) Gauntlet -
a: Surprise Santas: Three chimneys with a Santa in each that randomly pop up over the path (basically the pistons, just decorated).
b: Toy Turntable - A round trampoline that turns with lots of slushy snow (foam) falling on it.
c: Frozen Drop Bridge - The bridge is covered in ice to make it really slippy and hard to stay on.

Well, about the second obstacle, the Snowball Run, I would've replaced that with the Raging Rapids with a 1000 gallon "egg nog" tidal wave. Well, a tidal wave that looks like egg nog.

Wipeout World Cup
To be filmed on Argentina's version of the "old-new" course, featuring contestants representing the 32 nations in the world cup.

Round 1: Qualifier
As in the world cup, they'd be split into 8 groups of 4. The winner of each group, plus the 4 fastest runner-ups go on to round 2.

Tackle Dummy Towers - We kick off with the tackle dummy towers - basically the Tipsy Towers, but with Tackle Dummies stuck on the top of some of them meaning you have to vary your route to get through them.

Soccer Punch - mind your midfield as you cross!

Big Balls - our very own Golden Balls - but watch out for our star striker - the Motivator!

Soccer Swing Set - each with a "pitch" base, and then some sort of goal on the finish line.

Round 2: King of the Mountain
Each contestant has a flag representing their home country which they must carry to the middle.

Round 3: Dribble Dreadmill
Whether in single or double variety, the aim is to dribble a ball on the dreadmill as long as possible as cones are placed on. The clock stops when either the ball or the player falls off the dreadmill.

Final: Wipeout Zone
Aqua Launch - fly down on inflatable replicas of the World Cup
Raging Rapids - we'll rip-off the Wipeout Bowl here with "sports drink"
Crazy Sweeper - footballs on one side, red/yellow cards on the other, with giant boots dangling above.
Turntables - not quite sure here - Tackle Dummies perhaps.
