Suggestions: Wipeout Specials

We all know what we like about Wipeout and have ideas about the show, so about time we had a thread about it.

And just to give it a bit of focus, I'm suggesting specials - themed editions with obstacles linked to that theme.

So here's my first stab:

WIPEOUT: THE ASHES
Australia v England. (and this is with the International course in mind, but the Aussie's production values!)

THE QUALIFIER
Slippery Wicket - A stretched piece of plastic over the first pool, which is not only slippy, but only suspended in the middle so tips too.
Sucker Punch
Big Balls
Stump Swing
- Three giant cricket stumps on the end podium they have to swing themselves towards and grab.

Top 6 of each nationality progress

SWEEPER TEA
To celebrate the Ashes being in England, it's time for a cup of tea. Sitting on top of the Sweeper arm is a giant tea cup - and suspended above it is a teapot pouring boiling hot (well, OK, freezing cold) tea into the cup. So it's jumping the cup, but getting hit by a shower of "tea" as you do so.

DREADMILL: HIT FOR SIX
Contestants are kitted out in cricket pads, running on the dreadmill, and getting pounded by a ball machine firing at them - with goofy goggles so they can't see them coming. The 4 who run the longest go through.

WIPEOUT ZONE
Again I'm being boringly realistic and assuming the original course, so not much to do here.

Probably start with them going down Killer Surf on inflatable cricket bats, and then the Barrel Run could become "Bowling Bank", with lots of little balls rolling down the ramp.

Then it's the Water Wall and the Spinner, which to link it to the Ashes has a replica inflatable urn in the centre, and then finish with the Rolling Beam and Launch Pads as usual.

Re: Suggestions: Wipeout Specials

I really want them to do a Christmas special, with all trees and lights and snow.

So, something like this:

Wipeout Christmas Special

Qualifier
1) Present Drop - Lots of cube-shaped presents fixed in the air (as high as Plank in the Face, etc) spaced over the water. Some of them are solid, but when you step on others you'll fall through and out the bottom into the water below. Contestants have to try and get across the pool.
2) Big Baubles
3) Yule Log Roll - The log is covered in brown sludge (to look like chocolate) which will make it slippery.
4) Snowy Swing Set - The regular swings but covered in slippery snow.

Gryo Sweeper: Candy Cane
The arm is one of those American candy canes. The hook end is the end the contestants have to jump over/through, so it'd be a bit like the Hoop Sweeper.

Slippery Course
1) Slick Slide
2) Christmas Tree Branch in the Face - All the branches are covered in the same green plastic stuff as on fake Christmas trees, and sprinkled with a bit of snow.
3a) Sleigh Sliders - Several sleighs attached to tracks in the mud that easily slide forwards and spring back again. Contestants have to jump from one to another to get across, but obviously as they land on them they'll slip away so they have to be careful.
3b) Ice Rink Wall - The Slippery Wall covered in ice/fake ice rink stuff with dummy ice skaters that contestants need to avoid to get across.
4) Spinner - Has small Christmas trees stuck all over it, so contestants have to time jumping on right so they don't get knocked away by one of them.

Wipeout Zone
The whole Zone is covered in snow, and more snow falls while the contestants take on the course.
1) Sledge Launch - The Aqua Launch ramp is covered in snow and then contestants have to slide down it on a sledge.
2) Snowball Run - Same as the Barrel Run but gaint snowballs instead of barrels. This time the ramp is the hilly one from Raging Rapids to make climbing harder.
3) Crazy Sweeper - Same as usual but just with giant presents and snow balls on the arms.
4) Gauntlet -
a: Surprise Santas: Three chimneys with a Santa in each that randomly pop up over the path (basically the pistons, just decorated).
b: Toy Turntable - A round trampoline that turns with lots of slushy snow (foam) falling on it.
c: Frozen Drop Bridge - The bridge is covered in ice to make it really slippy and hard to stay on.

Brilliant stuff Duff Dan - and even in fake make believe Wipeout, the American's do it better!

Candy Cane Gyro-Sweeper such a good idea - I wonder then if they'll do Hoop Gyro Sweeper this series as that'll be excellent.

Thanks emoticon
I really hope they do have a Christmas special. That was missing last year!
They had the Wipeout Bowl in their off-season, so no reason why they couldn't have an episode at Christmas.

Maybe I should suggest it and see what they say?

I'd prefer a "Holidays" special to another Superbowl one, but the American's don't really do Christmas specials - but Wipeout is the sort of show which might get one.

Well I've asked Wipeout if there's a chance of there ever being a Christmas episode. We'll see if they reply!

Re: Suggestions: Wipeout Specials

i'm going to have a go at this!

Fast food special!

1. Qualifier

1. Ice Creams: Unstable giant ice creams that collapse when you walk on them. Insted of mud, there's chocolate.

2. Rude Service: All the Sucker Punch gloves are holding a fast food related item, like a drink or a burger, making them seem like rude waiters. Insted of mud, there's ketchup.

3. Pizza Balls: All of the balls have pizza toppings on them.

4. Burger Swing: Just imagine a sweeper podium, and a large burger on top of it. You have to swing onto it. Now since the burger is longer and wider than the sweeper podium it's on, when you land on it, naturally it's going to tip over.

5. Sauusage Sweeper

The Sweeper is designed to look like a sausage, with ketchup on it.

The sweeper is bigger, and so are the platforms. It's harder to jump over, but easier to hold on.

Slippery Course

In this episode, the contestants slide on half a bun. Also, the slipperyness is predictably caused by tomatoe sauce.

The contestants then have to cross the Cash Machines, which is a ledge with extending cash machines that the contstants have to get past.

Course A: Pizza Bouys

Just like the bullseye bouys, but made to look like a pizza! there will be toppings to make it slippery, but also a crust for contestants to hold onto.

Course B: String of Sausages

Going across the whole slippery wall is a string of sausages that the contestants must hold onto to cross it. However the sausages have been elasticated to the point of going over the edge at the middle of the wall (Hilarious).

Insted of the pedistals leading to the spinner, there are two chips (yellow Crazy Beams) side by side that you have to cross.

Spinner: Cheese

The spinner has been designed to look like a cheese, even having fake holes. There's a small amount of cheese sauce on it, and at the end you stand on a tomatoe.

Wipeout Zone

Aqua Slide: The contestants slide down on a giant pizza. The water has been coloured red to look like tomatoe ketchup.

Raging Rappids: Something that hasn't been represented yet: Barbacue sauce!

Wipeout Wall: Hang onto doughnuts, chocolate pours down.

Crazy Sweeper: Sideways burgers and hotdogs.

Turntables: The poles are made to look like bangers, and there is mash on the turntables.

The winning contestant gets a victory burger, and everyone else gets a salad. emoticon

LOL.

Think they said in one of the clips they've got a food themed qualifier coming up one week.
