Re: Countdown It's only been a couple of weeks. Don't remember that at all. Looks for all the world like it was random to me. Just did a double take the other day, see. One of those weeks where I didn't watch?
Re: Countdown Dunno how long it's gonna last, but for plenty of us, especially those that don't watch Cats Does Countdown, the series on All4's YouTube channel Guide to Swearing, which is basically Origins of X-rated Words, is quite surreal. I laugh imagining people's heads spinning and them wondering if the world has completely gone insane, after hearing Susie Dent swearing. Repeatedly. I find it weird, hilarious and awesome all at the same time. Extra source of amusement for me: she's the same age as my mum.
Re: Countdown I just looked it up.... F**king surreal.
I've seen a few 8 Out of Ten Cats episodes and they're not too bad. They seem to play the game properly enough - what little of it there is in it. Half the show is taken up with the introduction, which I don't find particularly funny.
Re: Countdown There's a new Countdown set coming onscreen soon. Well, I say new. It's just a modified version. Same blue letter backdrop, but now with no posts or weird grid tiley parts. It goes all the way around, behind the board too. Seems like the numbers board is widened so that it's the same size as the letters one on the back of it.
Re: Countdown Just catching up, this week. Aww. Nice salute to 25 years of Susie. (To be really pedantic, 16 years of her being there every day. StatMan!) Her 20th anniversary was more low key, with Nick doing his best flattery at the start of the show, and then that was it -
"Twenty years? Surely not! You'd have only been a teenager!" Not one bit patronising at all...
Just look at her 'deer in the headlights' expression, usually reserved for contestants, at the time.
Loving the new set. It was about time we had one, eight years since the last design change. There's a bit of a mix of old Countdown, new Countdown, De Chiffres et de Lettres and Letters and Numbers in there. The 'moulding' the contestant name display into the design of the desk is particularly retro, I thought.
Re: Countdown I don't get the thought behind the 'new' set. It just looks like a cheaper version of the previous one Even the lighting makes it look like a cheap daytime show now (which I know it is, but it never actually looked like it before).
