Yeah, no reason not to enter old songs if you want to.

Still no idea of a song from the UK. Entering famous ones wouldn't be fair, so... emoticon

Re: Eurovision

Couple more acts needed to make this a real competition...

I've thought about the voting and there's one problem. If we go with the rule that one can't give points to own song, then we would need to make a rule that all those who posted a song must vote (as otherwise others would give points to that, but it didn't to others).

But I think it's better we'll just play by gentleman rule that everyone votes sincerely by taste without favoring their post and you can therefore freely give points to own song. That'll keep things simpler.

That said, I'm thinking we could each throw in more than one candidate - if you can come up with something suitable.

So here's a "representative" for Sweden:
(after all, what would ESC be without Sweden?)

Nordman: Vandraren (Wanderer)

That's a good idea. Why not enter as many songs as you like, as long as they're from a country that isn't represented yet? That works!

We'll leave it for another week with these new rules then start the voting.

Stefan Raab used to do a Bundesvision Song Contest here in Germany and states were allowed to vote for themselves, too. In fact, when you called you not only added the number of your favourite song, but also a number for your state.

Entering this for Australia:

Can parodies be entered, too? In that case, this song from the Netherlands:

Switzerland with a song about mobile phone cameras (unfortunately in German):

Iceland:

Btw, does anyone here know Sigur Ros? How famous was this band? Because it was for some reason - probably common festival artist - pretty well-known in Finland at some point of 90's.

Re: Eurovision

I hope it's not the third or sixth one..!

Hmm. None of them really appeal to me. There's nothing in any of them that stands out (other than the weird ones). If I had to choose one, at a push I'd go for the first one.

The UK entry was chosen on Friday. I actually watched the selection show, where the supposed "best" six songs from all that were entered were performed. They were ALL bad. Either too dull or too "oh this is Eurovision" in the minds of people who think it's still like it was twenty years ago. emoticon

The song that won was the worse of the lot. It's depressing. The singer was the best out of them all, but she had the worst song. If this was a singing contest then it would have been a good choice, but it's not - it's a song (/performance) contest. Therefore, it'll fail.

I kind of liked the sixth, but apparently nobody else does emoticon

None of the 1, 3, 6. More guesses.
