Eurovision

I’d like to congratulate you on KHEXtra! Great stuff! But Berryz Kobo’s cover of “Dschinghis Khan” got me thinking…; is Eurovision big in Japan? Nozenuggets, is it big in the US? And perhaps most fundamentally; is it big on Keshi-Heads?

So many questions, so tempted by another piece of cake…

Toodle-oo, from your nocturnal Keshi-Head friend!

Glad you like Xtra emoticon Should be another at the end of October...

As far as I know Eurovision isn't big in Japan. I doubt most Japanese people would have ever heard of it. I've no idea how they came across Dschinghis Khan!!

I don't know about anyone else here, but I watch every year for a laugh emoticon I don't know how these other countries take it so seriously. Obviously we don't. The UK wouldn't win even if we had the best song in the world ever. Which we wouldn't, as it's Eurovision emoticon

Wonder who the new voice-over will be now Terry's gone though..?

And, coincidentally, speaking of Dschingus Khan: On Wednesday H!P released a special remixed single with Berryz and the original German song! It's actually great. Weird, but great.

(^That's with someone's own remixed video, but the only place I could find it online to post).

Berryz have even re-recorded some lines to sing the German lyrics too! emoticon
The only bad thing is I can't sing along to it anymore seeing as it's German, only the few Japanese lines left!!

Haha, nice remix!

Maybe we could do the commentary, now that would be a laugh! Oh well, a man can dream...

LOL I remember them emoticon
Still, if I were in charge of the UK's entry I'd steal Berryz Koubou and get them to do Dschinghis Khan, obviously. emoticon

Sadly, there is no Eurovision Song Contest. The closest we have to the ESC is the annual songwriting contest on American Idol, and unfortunately, the winner of Idol will sing the song on their first album.

Re: Eurovision

well, congratulations to Norway for winning the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. And congratulations to the United Kingdom for winning the 5th place and thanks for the 7 points emoticon - it's a fifth of our total score emoticon

I think Norway deserved to win and Germany deserves a 20nd place, I didn't like the song. Maybe Tokio Hotel should take part, I don't like them either, but the whole world do - and if they lose, their career will finally end. emoticon Well.. a (nearly) naked woman just works in Germany, not in Europe emoticon

(I'm back.)

Tactless and tastless, I thought. Apparently, she was told to cover up. As Craig would say, "Family show!"

Anyway, Norway deserved to win, but it's only a matter of time before Eurovision comes home (to Ireland). I'll bring it back where it belongs, just you wait and see.

Well, when they finally get through the semi-finals you mean? emoticon

 emoticon back!

The UK song was really bad. "This is my time" x 100, is what it sounded like to me anyway. I'd never heard it before tonight. And hope I never do again.
I guess she was a pretty good singer though. Although all this promotion she had apparently been doing all over Europe is a bit of a cheat, surely?

Yeah, that woman in the German song was emoticon + emoticon. What was that about? And 7 points from the UK? LOL, oh dear. Still, we got 3 from Germany (I think), so thanks too emoticon

I really don't get why Norway won. The song was rubbish. It wasn't catchy at all, which apparently it was meant to be. He was a bad singer, and it was clever how he was 'playing' the violin with a load of broken strings on the bow hanging off the end. emoticon

Graham did really well as the new voice-over, and didn't miss Terry at all. He made me laugh out loud quite a bit too. "She's never met a Maltesers she didn't like", "No comedy? Apart from those plastic ears", "That's either National Dress, or Horrible Dress", "That song grows on you... Like mould", etc etc etc. emoticon And the "hilarious" advert break things.

What is the voice-over like in Germany, Codex?

And I can't beleive I've just written a post that long about Eurovison! It did seem a lot different this year though, which was an improvment.

Actually we gave you 8 points emoticon, I'm pretty sure about that because Thomas Anders (the guy who called out the points from Germany) said "8 points goes to the UK". My English teacher would have killed him for using goes instead of go. emoticon

Anyway.. back to that woman. If you have a look at this year's Big Brother it became quite clear why they wanted to show boobs. Ratings were very bad at first and then they decided to reload everything and sent Annina Ucatis in, a porn star.
Image
They showed her Big Boobs every day and ratings finally raised and after she was evicted they still showed her boobs on the weekly live show and she was allowed to go back in for 24 hours just to have more sex in the house. (I still think ratings not just raised just due to her boobs, even even got better after her eviction).

And that is what they wanted to do yesterday as well: raising the phone calls for Germany by showing Boobs and a good-looking guy. They just forgot that this doesn't work outside Germany.

I didn't liked the performance and well, now his career ended before it really started. I wonder what Germany wants to change next year, maybe only they are allowed.

Well, this year another guy commented on the show, because Peter Urban, who has done this job over the last years is at the hospital at to moment. But the new voice-over was good during the performances, but very annoying when the countries awarded their points, because he talked too much. Overall it was good, because it was a little bit alternation. Some comments were quite funny as well.

He was better than the guy used in the semifinals though, who seemed disinterested and a little bit out of place.

Oh yeah, 8 points. Sorry emoticon
I think "goes to" sounds better than "go to" in that sentence. I know it's not grammatically correct, but it does! I guess that just goes to show how bad I speak my own language, let alone another one!!

UK Big Brother pretty much turned into that a few years ago, which is why I don't watch it now. Well, no where near as bad as putting a porn star in, obviously, but most of the people who go in would love to be one anyway. emoticon

I've always wondered what the voice-overs were like in other countries. I always imagined that they all took it too seriously, so glad to hear they don't emoticon
We had Graham Norton last night for the first time, as Terry Wogan quit last year after about 35 years. Terry anyways made me laugh, but Graham made me laugh out loud lots. I guess that could be why it seemed a bit better than usual yesterday.

The man who does our semi-finals (only saw the last hour of the second one this year though) is pretty good too - some funny comments. Like when their 'Magic Button' broke!
