They did skip a few episodes at first. When they showed episode 100 the voice-over guy said "don't be confused when your TV guide says its episode 89, we only showed you the best episodes."
So they skipped eleven episodes, including six longer specials. So Japanese episode 6 was probably the first German DSF episode.
They have done the early episodes afterwards, because in the end they showed all episodes except for the longer specials.
There are some clues:
VO guy says the polystyrene from Dragon Lake uses some secret magnetic field technology to mess with contestants' brains so that they can't use their muscle properly. I guess that's just a way to explain why they don't use water or mud. (He also thinks that people who slide down the platform are eliminated even though they go straight to Skipping Stones)
They give the (almost) proper name for Strong Kongo ("Strong Kanegou"). On most episodes he's called "Onji Tankobo".
In the second episode (which is now available on YouTube), VO guy refers to the guards as "Strong Kanegou and Onji Tankobo", when it really is Strong and Umanosuke Ueda. Kibaji doesn't appear until episode 5.
In the first episode, VO guy says that Michiru Jo is in charge of the rolling stones game. VO also says that he's confused that Michiru is in charge, because he's rather known for his terrible mistakes.
When they play rope, VO guy says "Takeshi moves in mysterious ways... the sense behind this task is mysterious, too. (works better in German). He's really not a fan of this game (or the one with the rolling stones).
Unless I missed it, VO guy only refers to Takeshi's second wisdom ("Only a muddy contestant is a good contestant"), but doesn't mention the first one ("Only a wet contestant is a good contestant"). Which would be strange for a first episode.
During the intro of episode 2 he mentions Yoroi Chuu without him (or Jumbo) being there. When Jumbo was there, VO always said that Yoroi forgot his armor or that his armor gets cleaned.
During Final Fall (episode 2), VO guy says that every day different sportsmen or ghosts protect the secret tunnels before revealing that it's Makoto and Katsuo who dress differently every day - "as always".
He obviously has information about events that didn't happen in the first or second episode. He wouldn't have those if they started with episode 1.
I really get a "we need to make it look like we do it for the first time without being too obvious that we skipped that episode" vibe from the first episode.
It's still a bit of a mistory how things went back then, but I'm pretty sure that they skipped some of the early episodes.

Re: News for German fans
Ah, going back to the ones they missed makes sense. Thanks for writing that up.
I wonder why they decided that 11 episodes weren't good enough first time around. I get skipping the first couple of episodes, but what was it about the other ones that they thought weren't as good as all the rest?

Re: News for German fans
The guy who uploaded those episodes stated in the commentaries that he has got 98 out of the 120 DSF episodes, so it's really happy days for us German fans.
Although I'm quite scared that RTL will start to claim copyright on Youtube for everything TC related, as they're usually incredibly strict regarding their content. Let's hope it's going to be different this time as it is not something they produced themselves.

Re: News for German fans
I always heard from members on here that contestants were out if they skid down the end of the Dragon Lake platform - unless they fell amusingly.
It's interesting seeing how they explain showing the early episodes later, though I'm guessing a bunch of people saw through it. I guess a lot of his explanations were more of a joke than a coverup though!

I don't get skipping any episodes. It was clearly more about ratings and money to them than it was about staying true to the show

You bet I will
My concern rather is him stopping to upload further episodes because they will get taken down anyway.

Re: News for German fans
Just to confirm: It's the RTL2 version with updated Comedy Central graphics on RTL Nitro.
But still more than tripled the channel's average channel ratings.

I wonder if the ratings will stay that high though.

Re: News for German fans
Yes, yesterday's rating were still almost tripled the channel's average market share. (5.1 and 4.7 percent, it launched with 6.1 percent).
Same with RTL 2 back in the days. There was a rather huge drop in ratings after people have seen that it was the UK version, but it has always been above the channel's average market share. So while there is a lot of negative feedback, people still watched it.
Still say it to this day: they just need to show the DSF version and it can even get great reatings on the main channels. The RTL2 version premiered with 13.4 percent, when the channel's average share was 6.6 percent. RTL Nitro reaches 1.8 percent of the market.
With the hype that came with Ninja Warrior Germany, its great ratings at Takeshi's Castle's great ratings, I'd even recommend to produce an official local version... and do it better than they did in 2007 with Entern oder Kentern.

Re: News for German fans
If there were more than one version of Takeshi's a Castle being filmed at the same time would the world implode? Seems one has to finish before another can begin.
The DSF version of the first six episodes are now on YouTube in case anyone didn't know.
