TBS Wipeout Teaser shows all of zone!
https://streamable.com/7o6uru
Sorry for bad quality, one of my friends caught it with the corner of his eye. It also shows the mud smackwall obstacle has it's platforms flip up, so I'm very excited for the fails this reboot. The zone is looking amazing, with lighting that in my opinion, rivals Season 7's zone lighting. What do you guys think?

Re: TBS Wipeout Teaser shows all of zone!
Here it is screen recorded! https://streamable.com/k014t7
One thing I've liked about the starts is that they've got a different way to fall for each teammate. It keeps the surprise even with smackwalls and gives us twice as much variety when it comes to falls. The last 2 zone obstacles, while not bad, are very underwhelming. The first 2 parts are these massive structures that give insane falls while the last 2 consist of a turntable and 2 hexagons with triangles. I'm really hoping there's some variation on that turntable obstacle because it could turn a fairly boring obstacle into something great.
Through the commercials, we've seen a wrestling, texting, yacht, driving, and disco theme for this obstacle. As excited as I am, I really don't want this to become another season 7. At least there making an effort to add some variation because in the driving theme, you can see someone holding groceries. However, it's still disappointing to see.

Re: TBS Wipeout Teaser shows all of zone!
The opening obstacles just look like the same old smackwalls so far - nicely enough designed but all varieties of the same thing.
The zone looks decent enough even if it is virtually all recycled, and actually a fairly simple spinning runway could prove to be better value than something much more complicated.
Really though all the interest here is what they do with the middle round which may be slightly more original. I do fear though that just as in series 7 once you've seen a couple of episodes you've probably seen everything the show has to offer - so the Johns minus One need to be funny.

Re: TBS Wipeout Teaser shows all of zone!
I am excited, but also kind of nervous about the repetition. Definitely seems like the season 7 issues are returning.
And bringing back the sideways Rumble Bridges they used six times in season 7, too? The dodgeballs and shopping-bags are a good way to differentiate it (though shopping-bags might seem like a weird fit), but it's still a lazy uninspired obstacle. At least their mechanical things look a bit more beatable than on the original version.
They really missed the mark with all their slow-mo trailer shots. Hopefully only for the trailers.

Re: TBS Wipeout Teaser shows all of zone!
They were used 4 times in season 7. This means that it absolutely destroys the Door Knockers's and Topple Towers's records for the most used starters with 9 uses compared to their 5 (10 if you're including the Winter Wonder Planks).
After seeing this ad, I am now VERY worried about live zone commentary because of how low energy it is. I can't really blame the hosts for this because they're out there for long hours in the cold watching these runs. It seems like this idea was doomed from the start.

Well the commentary isn't that great, but I wouldn't say it's awful on that video. But yeah, if that is the highlight of their energy, it could be an issue.
I think it'll be alright though.

Re: TBS Wipeout Teaser shows all of zone!
There was a very good reason the Johns did the commentary afterwards. Also them being "live" on set will probably see one of the absolute pet hates of mine - additional lines dubbed in afterwards. Considering how often it happens in television, in reality television especially, you'd think it would be seemless by now but it is almost always blatantly obvious.

I love how obvious it is when they do it with Chris Hardwick on The Wall. Always the same lines every week just added when they're about to drop the balls

Re: TBS Wipeout Teaser shows all of zone!
I've expressed my feelings on this before, but I feel like live zone commentary is going to be beneficial overall. Byer is very good on her feet and is pretty funny, and it keeps all their reactions live, genuine, and reduces the risk of spoilers. Cena is a little rough around the edges but obviously enjoys being there, and Byer stated in a few interviews that they had really good chemistry really early on. Of course some of it is gonna be redubbed but I think it works just fine. The zone has always been more serious, especially when it comes to commentary seeing as the Johns would crack a joke every so often, more frequently when someone would fail, and if we still get the written booth segments in the first two rounds it'll be a good balance.
