Re: Video Games

Finally got CTR Nitro Fuelled. Muscle memory helped as I got straight back into the controls. This game is 20 years old. Yikes. I love how elements of all the Crash racers have been incorporated into the game, and of course the same graphics and lush worlds from the N. Sane Trilogy being used here make this game look gorgeous on screen. Nice touch to have a track and character drawn as they were on PS1 in the PS4 version. Xbox should have it's own stuff if it doesn't already, it's only fair.

Not getting it straight away, I missed the first extra content, but the Bandicoot Girls are going to come back in a future update, which is nice. I came in for the second event, Back N. Time, which brought the baby dinosaur from Warped and sees the franchise make it's most blatant rip from Mario Kart, with Baby Crash and Coco. Baby versions of Cortex and N. Tropy had been around since the old days, but it's no coincidence that the heroes got their equivalents when the kart game comes out. Now the third update has arrived, bringing along the inevitable cameo from Spyro. No bad thing of course, Spyro's awesome. A hugely expanded game, pulling off the Sonic Mania trick of having references and characters from throughout the franchise coming out the ears. A ton of content, which I'll be spending a long time getting to look at. I need time for Team Sonic Racing and F1, yet. I've decided to leave F1 until the update for F2's 2019 drivers is released, which must be only a few days away now, as they said September for that.

Tekken 7 is also getting another update, bringing Zafina doing the old thing of 'person acting as a container for evil force to stop them escaping'. Yeah, that always goes well. emoticon

I've fallen to playing The Sims (2).
I have tendency to look down casual gamers and few games not for Nintendo (and particularly Wii) represent that kind of attitude as Sims.
But damn this thing is addictive - Civilization level addictive. In the end it's management strategy and that's the genre that holds top 2 of my alltime continuous gaming records (shareware F1 sim Grand Prix and car producing game Detroit, 15½ and 14½ hours respectively, aside compulsory toilet and food breaks).

I still do not admit I like The Sims, but I can't stop playing it...

Replaying some old favorites, Max Payne 1, Loom and now Monkey Island 2.

Still fooling around with Sims, even though I lost interest to playing it seriously.

Beat Contra without the 30 life code. That's saying something, since I'm not a very good video game player. I just think that game's difficulty is kinda overrated.

It's also pretty short, with 8 levels.

Now playing Shadow Man (PC) and it's pretty interesting. Like a horror TPS with world shape/game structure kind of like Ocarina of Time.

Yesterday got GTA: San Andreas (PS2), but I don't think I'll be getting into that soon, being in the middle of Shadow Man.

The other day finally got to work Angry Birds Space and AB Star Wars. I've had both for ages and they just didn't want to get along with my graphics card.

Re: Video Games

My grandma got me Luigi's Mansion 3 for my birthday.

Not extremely impressed so far. I had high expectations from the DS game, but (though it's still very early on) this game doesn't measure up yet.

It seems to be like most of the new games where they give you "hints" that actually give it all away. At least in things like Doney Kong Tropical Freeze and Yoshi's Crafted World, the easier versions are optional, but here the PolterPup forces you into learning everything. Plus, like every single new game of the year, it uses a dog as a main character to the story emoticon

Speaking of which, the game is much more story-heavy than the DS version so far.

Plus there's a move with the ZR and ZL buttons that seems to work with everything. Kind of like that "secret" move in the new Donkey Kong that kills all enemies on Funky Mode emoticon

There is still a lot of continuity with the original, at least, such as with the tools we're given (and the ultraviolet light was actually unlocked much earlier this time, I believe), but I wouldn't have minded something with the exact same style and controls as the DS game. To be fair though, the effort put into this new game is clear, so it's hard to complain that they created a new style.

Will have to keep playing anyway!

Love the surprise update for Mario Maker!

It's great to have some new features, and I think those speed-bump thingies in 3D will make for some interesting challenges.

The Link(?) costume is amazing too - so many powerups in one! Hoping for a couple more of these to come.

This obviously started out as a Winter update, but it's cool how they gave us some bonus desert items AND the new speedrun mode. I'm not in love with the new mode yet (no way I'm going to get an impressive time compared to any skilled player!), but will be interesting to see if they carry it on.

It'd be great if they added a few things every several months like this - we'll see!
