Re: Have a Holly Jolly Xmas Most stores would've put this topic up about two months ago
This is my only Christmas in Loveland (, thankfully!) and away from family, so I dunno how much I'll enjoy it. I'm getting a bit old for the presents too
Still, it'll be nice to celebrate the birth of Jesus, but it won't be the same really
Re: Have a Holly Jolly Xmas They're all too catchy - All I want for Christmas is You and Last Christmas... come to mind, and that's even with me never having properly listened to them
Oh right - we put up a real tree this year and put some countdowns up around the house, and the elf-on-the-shelf thing that my Mom moves every night, for my little sisters' enjoyment.
We also have an Advent calendar, where we get a small piece of candy each morning, but I prefer just finding the main-supply of it

The exact kind of Christmas music I hate. Makes me want to puke!
My playlist includes some of the predictable: Last Christmas, Stay Another Day, Merry Xmas Everybody (IT'S CHRIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSS! - obligatory), Merry Christmas Everyone, Do They Know It's Christmas?, In Dulci Jubilo. Also my favourite, Stop The Cavalry (It's about war, really, what does that say about me? ) Plus off the beaten track, Christmas Wrapping, Step Into Christmas, Season's Freaklings, Wonderful Christmas Time (Dunno why everyone says that's crap, I enjoy it. Is it cool to not like Paul McCartney, or what?)
And the recent addition to our list, the important, but funny, safety warning, Chip Pan's on Fire.
And obviously, I have a certain turkey to listen to, as well. All six albums' worth!
Re: Have a Holly Jolly Xmas That's a tough one. I realized years ago that that seems a bit creepy from the man's lyrics, but some people have also pointed out that viewed from another angle, you could see it as the woman standing up for herself by constantly saying no. As in "I don't care that it's cold outside, I'm going home, now!". The flaw with that argument is that the lyrics don't specifically say that the woman does manage to leave in the end, though I always took it as she did, personally. Bottom line, whether you choose to have it in your playlist or not, either way you'll piss someone off, so you're stuck.
Best version is Tom Jones and Cerys Mathews, obviously.
