So Many Members

...Join-up, post once and disappear emoticon

The story came into motion yesterday, just before midnight as Messup was eagerly writing his Monthly Roundup for July. In being a very welcoming and caring person (hope people realize by this point that I'm not being serious here emoticon ), Messup wanted to welcome all of the month's new keshi-heads on his Roundup. Upon checking the members-list Messup was SHOCKED(!!) to see a whole five new people joining the ranks of the forum in July. Thrilled, Messup heroically flipped through page after page of members to find that the last time so many users joined the page in a single month was over four years ago. Messup couldn't wait to dramatically relay said events to Dan so grabbed his phone and messaged Dan just before the new day began.

Messup waited for over an hour, breathing heavily, excited to see how Dan would take the spectacular news he generously gave. In response Messup was shocked to hear his exciting finding turn into a TRAGEDY as Dan commented that none of the new members have been sticking around. Restraining his tears, Messup flipped back to the member-list in horror, finding that four of the five new users this month are already INACTIVE emoticon

Okay, I'll save you some time and cut the story-telling (you know you liked it emoticon): Keshi Heads is a great page with a sizable base of friendly members, but we would always love a few more people joining in the discussions. It's always great to see new faces, but much more exciting is seeing these faces return and join-in multiple conversations, talk about their favorite shows, participate in events, etc.

So my challenge to anyone reading this who hasn't posted recently is to join some more of our discussions emoticon I might just be crazy, but I think you'll be glad you did emoticon

Now I guess you all have to right to challenge me to get a life and stop spending half of my day on here emoticon

I am posting to the user above me. I find it nice to me.

You know i have read a article that if you say two words that are a little similar it will releve your stress hardly. I find it unique. I will try it.

Flying pelicans and swimming seaturtles.

You know i think the idea helped me a little. I find it relaxing. I will do it o occasional. I find it calm.

I know the feeling completely! So many new registrants on my own board sign up and only post once or twice, or sometimes not at all! And then they do a runner.

Blame social media for everything! emoticon Forums aren't what they used to be, but yet I much prefer them. On forums people get to know each other and they're actual communities. On Facebook pages you're just commenting amongst a bunch of randoms. It makes "social media" a bit ironic really. Ahh... I'd best not start ranting. emoticon

You can rant to me! emoticon

I came-across the idea of forums over four years ago, thanks to my grandmother (who's also a user on here - miamigirl) looking-up Takeshi's Castle websites. She found this great place, showed it to me and after about half-a-year of being a guest on here, I finally got the confidence to join on here.

Right after that I became "cool" so soon joined Instagram and started posting everything about my life. Random trees I saw. Yeah, I eventually grew-up from that and actually left Instagram for a-year-and-a-half. I came back later (to post about the newer TC remakes, so it has it) and have been there since. I post about once a month now, so a lot better than my original style ( emoticon), but all my old posts are still there for whenever I feel like seeing how much I've matured over the past couple of years emoticon

I'm on there a bit more this year, but that's because I've moved-out of Florida, so social-media is one of the best ways to reach them.

Still, messageboards have always been my preferred style!

Sorry, I only just noticed this had a new reply. emoticon

Well, I've gotta say, you have a really cool grandmother. I wish any of my family had an interest in shows like Takeshi's Castle. Where I live people are usually more interested in watching boring soaps like Coronation Street. emoticon

Have you watched the UK episodes and do you prefer the format to MXC? Same question to your grandmother actually.

Yeah, you really are new to forums from the sound of it. Back in the olden days (well I sure feel old and disheartened from knowing in a few months I'll be thirty and and have done bugger all with my life—but I digress! emoticon) forums were all the rage, especially in the early 2000s. I heard (hopefully correctly) Keshi Heads came about after TC's initial UK broadcast, but I bet it would have done better during it.

Nowadays forums never even cross most internet users' minds and only the big boards get the attention, such as gaming forums like IGN's. The way I see it, those big boards aren't a whole lot different to sites like Instagram because there are so many users and threads, few people get to know each other. Close-knit smaller forums were always the best.

There was another TC forum back in the days when new episodes were still airing - the original one where everyone that was a member here when we first opened initially met. Then that closed down and one of the members opened a new board, where we stayed for around a year. Then that turned into a spam forum so I started this one, and here we are!

I agree that our 15-or-so users is a far better situation to have than this gist forums with thousands of members. A forum like this one is manageable, but still has a lot to read (a lot of rubbish now I'm on Summer vacation emoticon ) and friends to chat with emoticon
