Weeks behind, but we've nearly finished the house. We should have been in by mid July originally. Well into September looks likely now. Multiple delays caused by thins ranging from materials not being delivered on time, to builders working on other jobs they have whilst the sun's been out during the summer, to builder going on his holidays leaving us staring at an empty extension. You know, the small stuff. emoticon

Re: The Post About Today Topic

Well, this isn't a "today" event, but an event from two days ago. However, I still feel just as peeved about it. Basically, I've essentially waited a decade for a surgery for a medical problem that came into my life in late 2008.

At first they tried to treat it with medication. Shortly after they came to the conclusion that there was a strong possibility medication would never be able to control the problem and that surgery would be a consideration. While it was only a much stronger consideration a few years ago when they had used the majority of suitable medication to no avail I've still been in a very long queue for surgery.

Back in March I was finally going to have my operation. I had been very anxious about it for months knowing it would be the most significant day in my life, for better or worse. Two days before the surgery they called me and cancelled it because the lead surgeon was unavailable for whatever reason. However, they assured me I'd probably have it a few months later.

Finally, two days ago I was told they'll eventually re-book the surgery but due to new patients since the delay, the odds are that it'll be early-mid next year that I get the surgery. In other words it'll probably be around a year after the original surgery date.

I've been in limbo for almost ten years now. My life had gone 180 in a small space of time. But rather than it all being doom and gloom, I hope that I'll be able to post some good news in the future. In the meantime I've just gotta focus on the smaller "wins" in life.

That’s awful, I’m sorry to hear that. The NHS is great and all, but the way they mess people around like this is terrible.
Yeah, they’re overstretched, understaffed, etc etc, but that’s still no excuse for treating someone so badly and then delaying an operation for a whole year!

I’ve been very lucky in that I’ve never needed an operation or any ‘serious’ medical attention. Hopefully it stays that way... 🤞

Yeah, I'm sorry you have to deal with it emoticon

Like Dan, I've never had any serious medical-issues, but I know how annoyed I get whenever there's a small inconvenience, can't imagine how frustrated I'd be if it was something as big admin your issue emoticon

Just know that we're all (Dan, and the ten personalities in my head emoticon ) behind you and hope the best. Good job trying to consider the positives, too!!
