American Grit
Here's the show I'm posting today that is most reminicisent of what I usually watch
It's hosted by John Cena and I kind of think of it as an I Survived a Japanese Game Show redo in a weird way.
The competitors (17 to begin with) have to sleep in this same house-cabin thing ( ) and they will live there for awhile. They'll be training for military-style obstacles and will be mentored by strong military-type people The competitors selector obviously goes for people who are not exactly explorers and may be afraid to break a nail to climb a giant slope.
They're training for different challenges they'll have to complete.
Episode 1 is the only episode of this season to air so far and it featured one challenge where competitors were hung by their legs and repeatedly dunked in the water head-first. Everyone survived ( ) and made it to 30 minutes so the trainers picked their teams and one if the 17 doesn't get selected. This person is out.
Haven't seen series one and the intro episode is likely differently-formatted so I can't describe it too well yet.
It is fun though! The intro was John Cena in a restaurant explaining Grit and what it means to him. Then they had a woman chop her long nails off with a knife
Watch episode 2 tonight at 9 on Fox!!

Re: American Grit
I did watch the third episode. I did find it lousy. The show is unoriginal. It is not novel. I dislike it. It is not original!

Re: American Grit
I watched this having watched a few episodes of the first season and it's very odd to see how much they've changed the tone of the show. The first season was all about physically strong people doing difficult challenges and endurance, this season is full of 'reality TV' type contestants and fairly boring challenges.
