Re: Ninja Warrior Germany
Anything's possible. Mind you, we're talking about the channel that turned 101 Ways to Bore Your Audience into a 2 hour show.
(The German version of the Whole 19 Yards used to be almost 3 hours long! - but to be fair: it didn't air on RTL)

Re: Ninja Warrior Germany
At least it's impossible for it to be quite as bad as 101.
Hopefully.

Re: Ninja Warrior Germany
I'm don't know who started this, but I've read it a couple of time now that people claim that RTL bought the rights to Takeshi's Castle and will air it as Ninja Warrior Germany.
One website picked it up, too (and claimed that General Hayati Tani tried to defeat General Lee on Takeshi's Castle... printing a photo of Takeshi Kitano, saying that he played General Lee... wtf?)
People will be so disappointed when they see that it's not Takeshi's Castle.

Re: Ninja Warrior Germany
Wow. Some real top quality research there.
Wait for the backlash when people realise they've been mistaken.

Re: Ninja Warrior Germany
That's that old 'they're all the same' thing with Japanese game shows again.

Re: Ninja Warrior Germany
Probably down to crappy research, yes. There is so many wrong information surrounding Ninja. Today I read an article that compared Ninja to Wipeout and then said how Wipeout wasn't really popular outside the US whereas Ninja was allegedly always an hit around the world.
It's just... people just write crap as long as they get the clicks.

Re: Ninja Warrior Germany
Ninja Warrior Germany will consist of five episodes.
The first four episodes will show the prelimary rounds, which consist of two rounds.
They will have 60 contestants on every episode and apparently, they only have three attempts at the Warped Wall. (And one for every other obstacle)
The top 20 of each group will move on to the second round, where they have to conquer a second course - on the same episode. It will probably be filmed on a different day, but shown on the same episode. The best 7 contestants will move on to the finale.
The finale, which is the fifth episode, features 28 contestants and a four-part obstacle. Not sure if that means that there will be four rounds like on the original show.. there will be a Mount Green Mountain, so that might be the case?
And when you thought: "Hmm.. if they show two courses on one episode, how long will those episodes be?"..I can tell you: 2.5 hours.
Also, there will be celebrities (e.g. a I'm a Celebrity contestant and last year's Celebrity Big Brother winner). And also some people in costumes. There'll be a Super Mario and Spiderman for example.

Re: Ninja Warrior Germany
Sounds like the same format as the UK one, just they're shortening the series but stretching each episode out longer. Why do international versions of shows nearly always copy the poor other remakes rather than the original format?

Re: Ninja Warrior Germany
2-3 hour long episodes of entertainment formats is quite common in Germany, so it'll probably do better than airing one hour a week.
