Re: Ninja Warrior Series 6
The new series begins on 21st at 6pm. Two half hour episodes every day.
Hooray for putting it back on at a proper time, not 10pm.

Re: Ninja Warrior Series 6
10pm was the established slot for new stuff for a while, and with such little footage to go on last time, it was to be expected. It could only have been this time around, with 3 tournaments' worth of eps to go on, that the show could return to 6pm. It's actually worth it, now.

Re: Ninja Warrior Series 6
It was the esteblished slot but a rubbish established slot. Like make of their poor decisions in recent years.
Less than two weeks until we see how they've edited it themselves. Not expecting great things after Rebooted to be honest. But then surely there's not much they can mess up?...

Re: Ninja Warrior Series 6
Does TBS own those graphics rather than G4, then? Since we trashed Rebooted for doing its own (rubbish) graphics rather than adapting the old ones for 'our' TC - like you did for TCT, Dan - I'm pleased to see consistency with graphics and music. Disappointed though that the interview subs have been removed again. Those were the only subs that we need, since the action should do all the talking in the course itself, which America doesn't get with that snobbish attitude they have with regards to source material that usually persists in anime. It doesn't quite work with Jim giving translations, as it can sound like he's making it up, like [REDACTED] used to.
Impressed to see a TBS animated logo at the end, along with © 2016 Tokyo Broadcasting System Inc. So those 'negotations' from a while ago did take place then to set this up. Resulting in Jim-ified current Sasuke. Woo!
I'm getting genuine surprises for the first time in a long time, because I didn't see 28 or 29, such as the Spinning Bridge being moved closer to the start, and the eliminations of Koji Hashimoto and Li En Zhi (that should keep the snobs happy) on it. Also surprising was Mika's return. As Jim put it, gosh she's been busy!
When we get to Stage 2, I'm anticipating a not too happy reaction to a certain obstacle from UK viewers who haven't gone looking for the recent tournaments.
What was with the emotional music accompanying the feature on the All Stars, when they didn't star in the second episode? If the 'big goodbye that wasn't in the end' had actually appeared in episode 2 it would have been fine, because it would have been setting up the big occasion, but since it didn't, the sequence ended up looking out of place.

Re: Ninja Warrior Series 6
G4 would have sold the graphics package to TBS along with their edited episodes. Back in the first series' Challenge made the graphics was modified by the editors (they changed the size of that red box to for the Challenge logo, and it only appeared during the runs rather than throughout the whole bloody show like in America), so they've always been provided with the footage.
They have done a good job though. Maybe they actually learnt a lesson from Rebooted - don't mess with what already worked. The only thing I would say is that there are too many replays and previews now. The old episodes didn't replay every single fail, and the previews are too long and therefore too spoilerific.
Yeah - I thought the All Stars were going to be in the second episode too after that preview at the end of the first. Made no sense.
Have they changed the rule about touching the water meaning you're eliminated? The guy who left off the Rolling Escargot from half way clearly dipped his foot in the water but he got to carry on.

Re: Ninja Warrior Series 6
What was with Nagano being saved for episode 4? Also a bit awkward how they're trying to pretend that the All Stars are retiring off their own bat, because it's going to look silly with Jim having to say stuff along the lines of 'omgtheyrebackyoucantkeepemdown!' later on, but then that's only if you knew about the crap that went on surrounding this tournament. So only 5 through to Stage 2, but were any Americans removed this time or was this when they stopped doing it? I can't remember.
Also, greased balls. Just as stupid a 'gag' as Knobs of Death.

Re: Ninja Warrior Series 6
They are stretching it out a bit too much. Way too much filler in last nights episodes. Those long establishing shots of the course before every attempt are boring. But they did lead to Jim's 'Where's Yamada?' ("he's not up there - he's never been up there") which was funny
The recap bits are way too long too. It's like whoever did the editing doesn't have a sense of timing. Which isn't good for a video editor So many shots and sequences drag on.
I assume this competition will be wrapped up in one more episode. Surely they can't drag it out over two more?..

Re: Ninja Warrior Series 6
It'll probably be uploaded somewhere.
So after dragging the last competition out for ages, they're speeding through this one too fast. They cut nearly everyone out yesterday and they only got brief mentions. Only 10 left to run Stage One after just one episode. WTF?

Re: Ninja Warrior Series 6
Loved Jim's mocking of The Black Tigers. He was merciless. "After giving them a rollicking, Yamada vows they will return next tournament." The Hedgehog only stays for this tournament and the next, but I liked it being there, as it's quite clear exactly which hedgehog it was inspired by. That pleases me.
Surprised to see the Passing Wall stayed for this tournament in Stage 2. They're making it look easy, despite the Backstream being meant to wear them out beforehand.
30 will begin today, probably, unless they've made any preview specials with Jim a la 25 Reasons. They won't make it to this time next week at this rate. 30 will for me be about how Jim reacts to this attempt and the other, since I've seen it and 31.
